Solar panel installation, designed around your home

We carry out solar panel installation for homes across Devon and Cornwall, from our base near Okehampton. Every system starts with a free site survey, is designed around your household’s daily pattern of electricity use, and is fitted by our own installation team.

Designed around you

Solar panel installation that starts with how you use electricity

Solar panels, also called solar PV (short for photovoltaic), turn daylight into electricity. Your home uses that electricity first, so the most useful system is one designed around when you actually need power: through the day, and into the evening once the panels have stopped generating.

That’s why we start with your household rather than the roof. We look at your bills, your routine and your plans, then design the panels and, where it makes sense, battery storage sized to your evenings. The aim is what makes sense for your home, not the maximum amount of equipment.

A home system has three main parts: the panels on the roof, an inverter that converts their electricity for use in your home, and, if it suits you, a battery to store the surplus. You can follow how it’s all performing in the app.

If solar isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you. No pushy sales pitches, ever.

How it works

From the first conversation to handover

One team looks after your project, from the first call to the support that follows. For a feel of what your roof could produce before we visit, send us your address through our Solar PV Designer page and our team will design your system in Easy PV Pro.

  1. Free site survey

We spend about an hour at your property, checking the roof’s orientation, shading and space, and talking through how you use electricity. You can upload a recent bill with your enquiry beforehand. Pick a time for your site survey when you’re ready.

  2. Design and quote

We design your system with Easy PV Pro, working out the number of panels and the battery options. You then get a no-obligation quote that sets out the design and its estimated savings, based on your use.

  3. Approvals

Your system may need approval from National Grid before we can connect it. This is called a G99 application. We handle the application for you and keep you updated while we wait for their response.

  4. Installation

Our own installation team fits your system, and every member of the team is DBS-checked. Homes usually take one to three days; larger projects take a little longer.

  5. Handover

We set everything up, show you how it works and how to follow it in the app, and your Solar Owners Club membership begins.

Your roof

Roofs and spaces we design for

Every roof is different, and the free site survey settles what’s possible on yours. We design and fit systems for:

  • Tiled roofs, clay or concrete, with the array fixed above the tiles.
  • Slate roofs, including in-roof arrays that sit in line with the slates.
  • Flat roofs, with the array laid out to suit the roof and the space available.
  • Roofs with more than one face or some shade, with the layout planned around the orientation and shading we find at the survey.
  • Ground-mounted systems, for homes without suitable roof space.

Protection

Warranties, certification and export payments

When your panels make more than your home and battery can use, the surplus goes to the grid, and you can be paid for it. Those are export payments, made under the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). Our workmanship warranty and the manufacturers’ product warranties are kept separate, so you always know who stands behind what. Before choosing any installer, it’s worth knowing how to spot a solar panel scam.

After handover

Support that continues after installation

Our support doesn’t end when the installation team leaves. Every installation includes one year of The Solar Owners Club: an annual system health check, a dedicated support line through The Hub, WhatsApp, web chat and email, and discounted upgrade products with fixed, discounted rates for labour.

Members also join The Hub, our members’ community, with guides and other solar owners to compare notes with. After the first year, membership continues by system size. If you’d rather book a yearly check on its own, our solar panel maintenance service covers it.

Questions

Solar panels: your questions.

All our FAQs

Yes. A system can include an electric vehicle charger, designed in alongside the panels and any battery. Tell us about your car when we survey, and we’ll plan the charger into the same design.

One to three days for most homes. Bigger systems can take longer. Our own installation team carries out the work.

In most cases, planning permission isn’t required. However, exceptions apply in conservation areas or on listed buildings. We’ll advise you during your survey if permissions are needed.

Not always. Panels generate during the day, and a battery stores the surplus so you can use it in the evening. Whether one makes sense depends on how and when your household uses electricity, which is what the survey and design work out.

Very little. We recommend occasional cleaning of the panels and a professional inspection once a year, which helps spot problems early. Membership is included for the first year, with an annual system health check, and members get fixed, discounted rates for any labour the system needs.
