Fox ESS installer for solar inverters and batteries

Fox ESS makes hybrid inverters for single-phase and three-phase supplies, which run solar panels and a battery together, and batteries to pair with them. If you’re looking for a Fox ESS installer, our own team designs and fits Fox ESS systems across Devon and Cornwall from our base near Okehampton, choosing the inverter and battery around how you use electricity.

We fit Fox ESS inverters and batteries where they are the right choice for the property.

  1. Single-phase invertersH1-G2 hybrid inverters from 3 to 6 kilowatts (kW), with matching AC1-G2 models that Fox describes as “ideal for adding storage to existing PV systems”.fox-ess.uk
  2. Larger single-phaseKH inverters in 7, 8, 9 and 10 kW options, for larger arrays.fox-ess.uk
  3. Three-phaseH3 Smart inverters from 5 to 15 kW, which Fox positions for smaller commercial and large residential projects.fox-ess.uk
  4. EP batteriesEP6 is 5.76 kilowatt-hours (kWh) and EP12 is 11.52 kWh per unit (nominal); Fox allows up to four units in parallel, at a 90% depth of discharge.fox-ess.uk
  5. EQ batteriesEQ5000 modules of 4.92 kWh stack in series, six at most for 29.52 kWh, at a 90% depth of discharge.fox-ess.uk
  6. Backup gatewayThe EPS-BOX-SP gateway switches over in about 2–3 seconds; Fox says it “Supports full-home backup (subject to system sizing.)”fox-ess.uk
  7. Battery warrantyFox’s UK and Ireland policy gives 120 months from installation for EP6 and EP12 and 144 months for EQ modules, ending early once a module reaches its energy-throughput limit (18.45 megawatt-hours for an EQ5000).drive.google.com
  8. Inverter warranty120 months for H1, AC1, K Series and H3 inverters, falling to 60 months if the inverter isn’t connected to Fox Cloud within 120 days of installation and kept connected.drive.google.com

The range

What Fox ESS makes

Fox ESS makes a range rather than one fixed system: hybrid inverters, batteries, all-in-one units and a backup gateway. That range lets us match the inverter to your electricity supply, and the battery storage to how you use electricity, whether that means evenings at home, a farm’s daytime load or a business’s operating hours.

  • Single-phase hybrid inverters: the H1-G2, and the KH series for larger arrays, each in the sizes shown above.
  • Three-phase hybrid inverters: the H3 Smart, in the range shown above, and the larger H3 Pro, from 15 to 30 kW.
  • Batteries: EQ modules that stack in series, and EP units that connect in parallel.

Your solar

Fox ESS with new or existing solar

With new solar panels, a hybrid inverter runs the panels and the battery together. Fox calls its H1-G2 “Battery Ready”, so the battery can follow later “with no system redesign”.

Already have solar photovoltaic (PV) panels? Our page on adding a battery to your existing solar covers the process, and Fox models for it include:

  • AC1-G2: the dedicated model the table above quotes, which connects alongside the inverter you already have rather than replacing it.
  • KA series: the larger single-phase option Fox positions for retrofits onto existing solar.
  • PowerQ: an all-in-one that can run without panels of its own, as a retrofit battery for an existing installation.

Two warranties

Fox ESS warranty terms

Fox sets out its product warranty in two UK and Ireland documents dated 6 October 2026, one for batteries and one for inverters. Our own 10-year workmanship warranty is separate and covers our installation work. Fox’s documents list further conditions and exclusions, worth reading alongside your quote.

TermWhat the warranty says
BatteriesTen years for EP units and twelve for the EQ range, as in the table above, but cover stops sooner if a module passes its energy-throughput limit, the total energy it is warranted to handle: 43.19 megawatt-hours (MWh) for an EP12, 18.45 MWh for an EQ5000.
Battery performanceFox states it “retains at least 70% of Nominal Energy” for 12 years (EQ) or 10 years (EP), or to the throughput limit if sooner, with the surrounding temperature kept between minus 10 °C and 50 °C.
InvertersTen years across the ranges in the table above, cut to five years unless the inverter joins Fox Cloud in its first 120 days and stays connected.
Backup gateway60 months for the EPS-BOX-SP.

Our part

Installation and aftercare with our team

It begins with a free site survey and a no-obligation quote. We design the system in Easy PV Pro, which sets the number of panels and the battery options, and our own installation team fits it.

At handover, we show you how it works and how to follow it in the app. Keep the inverter connected to Fox Cloud: its full warranty depends on it.

Aftercare comes through The Solar Owners Club, and when you’d like a price for your property, request a quote.

  • Year one: included with every installation.
  • After year one: membership continues by system size, banded by inverter: 20 kW and under, 20 to 50 kW, and over 50 kW.
  • Members get: an annual system health check, a dedicated support line, discounted upgrade products and fixed, discounted rates for labour.

Alternatives

The other makers we fit.

We are not loyal to a box. At the survey we look at your roof, your supply and your evenings, and recommend the maker whose equipment suits them.

  • Sigenergy

  • EcoFlow PowerOcean

Modular: battery packs you can add to over time.

Before you choose

Fox ESS: your questions.

All our FAQs

Homes usually take one to three days, and larger projects a little longer. Your system may need approval from National Grid before we can connect it; this is called a G99 application. We handle the application for you and keep you updated while we wait for their response.

Only where backup power is included and suitable. With a battery fitted, Fox’s single-phase hybrid inverters list a backup output that switches in under 10 milliseconds. The gateway in the table above, the EPS-BOX-SP, is slower, taking seconds rather than milliseconds, and Fox ties full-home backup to how the system is sized. We’ll tell you plainly whether yours can.

Fox positions its three-phase H3 Smart, 5 to 15 kW, for large homes and smaller commercial projects, and the H3 Pro, 15 to 30 kW, for high-demand sites. Whether it suits your farm or business depends on when you use electricity, from milking and refrigeration to daytime operating hours, which the survey looks at.

EQ modules stack in series under one master module, up to six EQ5000s of 4.92 kilowatt-hours (kWh) each. EP units connect side by side in parallel, up to four of them, with the EP6 at 5.76 kWh and the EP12 at 11.52 kWh. Fox rates both for 90% depth of discharge, meaning nine-tenths of the stored energy is available to use.
